Welcome to The Rose Society of Western Australia Inc.



The Rose Society of Western Australia Inc was founded to encourage, improve, foster and extend the cultivation of the Rose and to develop appreciation of the most beautiful of flowers, The Rose. With these aims in mind the Society hosts a variety of competitions, exhibitions, talks and provides information to assist members and the public with the growing and care of their roses.

 

The annual membership fee is due on the 30th of June each year. The fee is $30 for renewals and $35 for new members.  All are welcome.  For details and to become a member, go to the "Membership" tab.

 

By becoming a member you will receive the publication "The Australian Rose Annual" and our Western Australian Journals which will be published twice yearly in June and December, with a Newsletter distributed in March and September.  You can also attend our monthly meetings.

 

Members conduct pruning demonstrations in July, which are held at various locations in the suburbs. Our famous Rose Shows are held twice a year, once in Autumn and once in Spring, alternating between the Guildford Town Hall and the South Perth Community Centre Hall. There is fierce competition between our rose growing members, which results in the most beautiful displays of roses at these shows.  Go to the “Calendar” tab for dates of upcoming shows. 

 

Members are able to access our Library which contains a vast array of information on roses and how to grow them.  The books are available at our monthly meetings. Our Rose Society members are very active and many volunteer their time during the Spring and Autumn shows in various ways, by exhibiting their roses, setting up the hall, distributing signs for the show, assisting in the kitchen, baking, selling items made by our members and those provided by sponsors, etc.  

 

At the Annual General Meeting which is held in August, members can nominate to serve on the Council to help manage the effective running of the Society.

 

We encourage the wearing of name badges. These are sent out to new members upon joining, and again annually upon renewal of membership to all members.  Wearing your name badge makes you known to other members and is very useful when getting to know others in the Society. 

 

Our members often represent the Society when requested to provide a presentation to other groups or clubs, or at shows and other functions.
